First week

It has been five days since the last post, it is time to update !

This past week has really been rich in events. I know now the basics to meet my physiological needs (as for example, where is the closest grocery store, or the fact I need to watch on the right side first before crossing a road).

So, for the one of those knowing the Maslow's pyramid, you will not really be surprised about my recent activities.

Food and meals

Food is quite expensive. Mostly if I try to keep my eating habits or try to reproduce meal I used to prepare in France.

Although some manners still disgust me (like eating toast with peanut butter and jam for lunch), there are a lot of people from different countries and so different habits to be inspired by.

Fruits and vegetables are affordable and locally produced, so it helps to make really tasteful (and healthy) meals.

I took a look last Sunday at a market near of the Te Papa Museum.

Work and woofers

This week, I worked on monday from 10am to 4pm, wednesday for the am shift, and will have to work sunday from 10am to 4pm again.

I liked my am shift, although it's reputed to be an ''hard'' schedule : you work alone, and if you want to do each of your tasks well, takes way more than six hours.

The ambiance is really good between woofers (we are not doing woofing but we are called like this). We regularly eat more or less together, or have some activities outside.

Yesterday, we played basketball and touch rugby after work, and one of the woofers prepared a delicious spanish cassoulet for everyone.

Because I am having a good time, and still does not know what to do from the 23rd of December, I booked to come back to the hostel for two weeks during this period.

Lifestyle

Despite the fact that the weather is auite unpredictable (except for the wind, which never seems to stop), I could spent time outside.

I read and relaxed in a park, went for walk in the city and ran several time following the coast.

French and French-speakers everywhere

I went for the first French speakers meetup, where I met French expats, young people recently arrived and French speakers. I also met some French at the hostel where I am.

Each of these meetings was interesting because we could had share or experience or plans. I learned that I do not need nor a job neither guarantors to rent a flat.

So I think I will search for one for the beginning of january.

Phone number

I have now a NZ phone number, thanks to 2degrees, a NZ phone company giving free rechargeable SIM cards. You can now contact me on the (+64) 223 548 198 .

Still no camera

I saw a lot of beautiful views and panoramas, but I still can share them to you. Hope you will forgive me when I would be able to do so.

Bye!
